Countertops aren't something to overlook. A vital part of your kitchen's functionality and design, finding the right material, color, and design for the counterrs is so important. And while durability is a key factor, you also don't want your kitchen to look outdated.
We turned to design experts to find out which fun and new countertop trends they are expecting to see in 2024.

Elements inspired by nature are on the rise, says Nicole Saunders, interior design specialist and founder of The Design Build Vault. Expect to see countertops with warmer undertones, deep blues, terracotta hues, and colorful marbling, such as emerald green or deep, amethyst-like purple veining.
“I believe we’ll also see a return to more natural and textured finishes, like honed or leathered surfaces,” Saunders says. “These finishes offer a softer look and feel, and they can add color to any kitchen. On the other hand, glossy finishes are starting to lose their popularity, as they can be difficult to maintain and show fingerprints easily.”

Going hand-in-hand with 2024’s nature-inspired spaces is a focus on sustainable countertop materials. Christine Ho, principal interior designer at Breathe Design Studio in Austin, says her clients are “obviously being more cognizant of using materials for sustainability.” An example? limestone.
“Limestone is one that I feel like is being used a little bit more and can be used in more sophisticated ways,” Ho says. “You see it in fireplaces and things like that, but I don’t think that many people think of it as a countertop surface. So it’s kind of like extending the use of it.”
