On Saturday we managed to build the remaining 4 raised beds for the back garden, which is now nicely symmetrical. They’re made from (eco-treated) half sleepers, which are not light – building a raised bed means a lot of heavy lifting. Even so, it was the weather and not the effort involved that has slowed us down. We’d been waiting until the garden dried out!
After building the first two we stopped for the obligatory tea break. This week’s gardener’s snack was Peanut Butter Chocolate Honeycomb Dips, which the Mighty Fine Honeycomb company had sent us to try. They’re very nice – a good mix of crunchy and chewy, and the chocolate adds a delicious richness (the peanut butter flavour is very subtle). They also offer the prospect of an afternoon’s entertainment – getting the honeycomb out from between your teeth! Definitely don’t admit to your dentist that you’ve been eating these!
We carried on after refuelling, and now the second half of the garden looks like this:

This is another new addition to the garden, an ornamental one: hardy Fuchsia ‘Sunray’. Can’t wait to see its flowers
