Keeping your entire home tidy can seem daunting with families, pets, and even just daily messes that pop up. That’s why having an organizing strategy you can replicate for each room is critical.
We talked to a few professional home organizers to get their rinse-and-repeat tips that you can use in any room of your home, from the kitchen to the bedroom and beyond.

When Nicole Gabai worked in TV production, she and the rest of the crew would spring into action when the director called, “Back to one!” The phrase meant that everything on the set had to be returned to the way it was at the beginning of the scene so the director could shoot it again.
Today, the certified virtual organizing professional’s favorite organizing hack is to spend 15 minutes getting a room “back to one,” which is to return things to their proper places.
This method might look different for each room—and might even take less than 15 minutes!—but it’ll help you organize a room quickly, Gabai says.
If you’re a procrastinator when it comes to tidying up, Ashley LaFond, founder of home organization company Of Space + Mind recommends setting a timer for 15 minutes to stay focused on the task at hand.
“Feeling like you have a set amount of time to complete a task will help you zero in on what needs to get done,” she says. “It will surprise you how much you’re able to get done in a short amount of time if you’re not distracted.”
You’ll feel accomplished when the timer goes off, and it could also help motivate you to keep going with the rest of your house, LaFond adds.
