Many B.C. garden clubs and horticultural organizations do a great deal to promote the value of plants in our homes, gardens and neighbourhood parks. They are unsung heroes, generously sharing good gardening experiences and helpful information throughout our communities.
I have had the privilege of speaking to a number of these clubs and specialty associations, and always learn so much from them. In addition to contributing their wealth of gardening knowledge, they raise much needed funds for parks, public gardens and community projects. Some also sponsor scholarships for young horticultural students in local colleges and universities.
We all need to support their many plant sales and garden events, like private garden tours, which help them raise the funds for their endeavours. It is a pleasure each year to provide a list of these events in our various communities. At this time we have the following events for you to add to your gardening calendar. Please consider giving them your support this season.
The following list includes just some of the many garden events planned throughout the province this spring. Many plant sales are cash only and tours and events likely require advanced ticket purchases. For more information please visit each club’s website or Facebook page. Please note, many garden associations and community groups are planning summer events as well, so keep watch for more exciting things to come.
