The Prunus Kiku-shidare-zakura (Cheals weeping) has been in the patio area of our garden for close on twenty years. This small weeping cherry has only reached a height of seven feet in all this time, making it well and truly ideal for the small garden
The leaves in early Spring open a bronze shade turning green and then giving good Autumn colour. Large pink double flowers smother the branches in April/May.
About ten years ago it looked like we were going to lose this little beauty. Some of the branches started to ooze, as if the sap were draining away from the tree. I pruned out all the affected branches and recovery was 100% in two years.
A couple of months have passed since the Cherry tree was in flower. It is positioned just behind the red begonia flamboyant near the centre of the picture.

The month of June in Aberdeen was the coldest in ten years. The temperature got to just above 20c on two occasions only. Apparently the overall temperature for the month was a little over 11c. In spite of this the garden is looking not bad, obviously the amount of daylight is of even more importance than the temperature. Pictures below of the front garden in July 15th.

The raised border in the front garden with, HT Rose, Laura Anne, a single HT Rose Buxom Beauty in the centre also Hardy Geranium Jolly Bee along with Alchemilla Mollis Auslese at the edge of the border.
The picture of the raised border with the HT Rose Laura Anne really did not do justice to this beautiful specimen. I have noticed that it is difficult to produce the quality shots of Roses taken from a distance compared to those taken close up.
