Along with every new year come new home design predictions, and Houzz’s predictions are everything we thought we’d see, plus a few fun new forecasts that will be a delight to see come to fruition.
Houzz is a pretty huge name in design, with 65 million people in its community, including three million residential construction and design professionals, so we're taking note.
It should come as no surprise that blending backsplashes is one of the most popular predictions for the new year. In 2024, instead of choosing one tile for your backsplash, you might see more designers incorporating entire slabs of stone or quartz, adding those materials behind the range or cooktop, or using it as a countertop too.
Appliance garages are on their way back, too, so you can keep blenders, coffee makers, and toasters concealed and you nice new backsplash and countertops on full display.
Love and Renovations
Another unsurprising trend? Fluted details, from cabinets to media consoles. Fluted details add fun texture and depth and are fairly simple to DIY, if you want to believe one of the hundreds of TikToks that show users how to make fluted tables, fluted walls, fluted cabinets, fluted nightstands, and more. And speaking of DIY, handmade features, in general, are making a splash in 2024.
