Lilium Regale Album is one of the Chinese species, pure white with yellow stamens and a fabulous heady perfume. It is the earliest white to flower, grows well if planted directly into the border or in containers
Lilies enjoy a rich humus soil with added grit for drainage. Flowering time in Aberdeen late June / July. I quite like growing them in containers, this way I can position them in the border where it best pleases me. Very handy in spots where Daffodils or Tulips have died back.
Overwintering the containers in the cold greenhouse seems to do the trick, I normally repot the bulbs every third year. If you decide to plant directly in the soil, a depth of eight inches is advisable.
Height – 120cm
Position – Full sun/part shade
Flowering period – July
