The Main Avenue of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show is the heart of the iconic event. An extraordinary opportunity for talented newcomers and experienced designers alike to showcase innovation, creativity and the transformative power of a garden space in the heart of the city and watched by an audience of millions. Tom Massey is back after his 2023 Chelsea Flower Show success, this year partnering with Je Ahn, and familiar faces Ann-Marie Powell, Matthew Childs, Tom Stewart-Smith and Robert Myers are designing show gardens supported by Project Giving Back.
The RHS have also announced for the first time in Chelsea history that a garden designed by the children of Sulivan’s primary school in Fulham and garden designer Harry Holding will feature at the show — a fantastical creation where young people are encouraged to immerse themselves in the magic of the natural world.
Having been awarded RHS Young Designer of the Year 2017, Ula Maria is no stranger to Chelsea success. This year, she’s bringing her skills to the Forest Bathing Garden on behalf of Muscular Dystrophy UK. Sensitive and thoughtful features include a knapped flint wall whose texture is reminiscent of muscle cells and a green canopy inspired by a birch grove of more than 40 trees.
In the heart of central London, Robert Myers has designed an urban space that symbolises a message of hope and recovery. An imposing archway mirrors the proposed gateways leading to the churchyard at St James’s Piccadilly. Contemplation is inspired by the biodiverse planting scheme which includes deciduous treeGinkgo Biloba and lush palm Trachycarpus fortunei, whilst a sculptural stone hut sits within the garden for visitors to sit and take in the verdant atmosphere.
