To really wow guests, avoid traditional serving platters. MaCenna Lee, an interior decorator and content creator, likes to get creative with how her food is displayed. She uses dishes that also double as centerpieces and decorative elements.
“Charcuterie boards always look great on a table but also carving out a pumpkin, squash, or pineapple to serve a side dish or dip,” she says.
Plus, using items that have multiple purposes also lends extra space—something guests will certainly enjoy having more of. Erica Davis, a principal interior designer and co-founder of Eralyn Interiors, says how often there's not enough ample space for the actual dinner due to the tablescape arrangement which could make it difficult for your guests to enjoy their meal.
Experts agree: flowers or a bit of greenery is a must. “Always add flowers,” Tina Yaraghi, the founder of The Enchanted Home, says. “Flowers elevate a table—any table.”
Blooms bring nature indoors and provide a nice final touch that every table setting needs. She says the flowers themselves don’t need to be expensive and that it only takes a few steps to make them look presentable. Just cut them short, bunch them tightly, and add to a pretty glass, she says.
