As maximalism and its sister aesthetics take charge, people are realizing the importance of the little things. With an increased interest in dopamine decor and cluttercore trends, design is officially all about loving what you have and putting it on display.
Think about the Mini Brand balls taking over the Target toy aisle and the small trinkets that cover your friends’ dashboards—little expressions that boost happiness seem to be everywhere. Unfortunately when you own too many trinkets, you lose the space to display them; a dresser and wall shelf can only hold so much. That’s where a new kind of trinket comes into play: a hinge head.
A hinge head is a very small trinket that you either buy or DIY and attach to the top of the hinge of your door with putty or a magnet.
“I’m really hoping this lands on the right For You Page, because people are either going to love this or hate it so so much,” TikTok creator @thisisdrover said in a recent video with more than 1.2 million views. “I discovered hinge heads, and [they are] basically little trinkets or decor for your hinges. And it sounds ridiculous, but it’s kind of cute.”
All you need is hot glue, a baking sheet, and a creative idea. The creator made her mini mushrooms using a hot glue gun, drawing out the shapes on her baking sheet, letting them dry, gluing them together, and then painting them with acrylic paint.
The final product looks adorable, but many people commented that the mushrooms they created didn’t come out quite right. She made a follow-up video showing you don’t actually have to make it yourself—buy miniature figurines and just add your putty or magnet.
